Carroll began his officiating career as a Basketball official in 1960, a baseball/softball umpire in 1966 and a football official in 1968.
In his 31 years of officiating, Carroll worked hundreds of high school and college games.
Highlights include 14 Girls State basketball tournaments working the finals four different times. 3-six on six and 1 five on five. 11 of the 14 years he worked either the finals or the semi-finals.
Carroll also worked 11 Boys State tournaments including one final.
Carroll was equally successful in football working the state play-offs 14 times including 4 finals at the UNI-Dome.
He also umpired 14 state baseball tournaments, working the final on one occasion.
Carroll contributions did not end on the court or field. He was very active in SIOA serving as baseball secretary for 5 years, basketball secretary for 6 years and served as executive secretary for 6 years.
Don was an active official for 30 years. He was also a charter member of SIOA and maintained membership for 35 years.
Don was a multi-sport official working basketball, football, and baseball/softball.
In 20 years of working girls softball, Don worked 10 state tournaments including 8 championship games.
In Girls’ basketball Don worked 13 state tournaments including 3 finals .
He also worked 12 boys’s state basketball tournaments, working one final game.
In football, Don worked the state play-offs 14 times, including 4 finals. Don also was very active in American Legion baseball, working 10 American Legion World Series, traveling all over the U.S. He helped author the American Legion’s Umpires Manual that is still in use today. In 2002 he was inducted into the Iowa American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame.

Jerry has focused on one sport, having been involved as a football official for 44 years.
During that time Jerry has experienced much success on both the high school and collegiate level.
As a high school official, Jerry has worked in the state play-offs 12 years, including a state championship game.
He was also selected to officiate in the 1991 Shrine Bowl.
As a college official, Jerry has worked numerous play-offs, both in NAIA and NCAA.
Jerry was very active in the Tri-States Official’s Association serving as president and football secretary.
Jerry was inducted into the IHSAA Official’s Hall of Fame in 2006.
Kenny has been a registered official since 1955, although his career was interrupted with Naval Service from 1962-1965.
During this career, Kenny has worked at all levels an estimated 1,000 football games, 3,000 baseball and softball games, and 4,500 basketball games. That’s a total of 8,500 games.
Highlights during this lengthy career include:
the Iowa Shrine all-star football game.
Umpiring twice in the Iowa Baseball Coaches All-star games played in Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha.
Kenny has also worked several football play-off games in Missouri.
He has also worked the Iowa State Baseball tournament 4 times, serving as crew chief three of those 4 years.
Kenny has been honored by the Iowa Girls Coaches by being inducted into their Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002, and their softball Hall of Fame in 2005.
Kenny was very active in the Tri-states Official Association, serving as secretary for several sports.
Mike has been an active basketball official for 29 years at all levels from J.H.through small college men.
Mike got his varsity start when Mt. Pleasant A.D. Bob Evans pulled him out of the stands when fellow Hall of Famers Don Proctor and Carroll Oberman failed to show up at a Mt. Pleasant/Ft. Madison game.
Mike has worked numerous Iowa State High School tournaments for both boys and girls, including two games at the 2007 girls state tournament.
Mike has also worked five different IGHSAU clinic games.
Mike has served in a leadership capacity by:
Teaching an officiating class at Iowa Wesleyan College
Active membership in SIOA, including six years as basketball secretary, and 18 years on the executive board. He was also executive secretary. Mike was on the merger committee for the SIOA and Tri-states Officials Association.
Mike has been honored by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association with induction into their Hall of Fame in 2005.
